Joanne Fleisher
is a licensed social worker with a private practice in
Philadelphia for individuals, couples and groups.
She specializes in women's issues and gay and lesbian concerns.
This area interests her because of her experience of being in a
heterosexual marriage for 12 years, living in the suburbs with her
husband and 2 kids, and realizing she had to deal with her
sexuality.
Joanne
had fallen in love with a woman, but didn't want to break up her family. She felt
the isolation, pain and fear that most women feel when exploring their sexuality, but had
nowhere to go for peer support and guidance.
Knowing that other lesbians need this support but often do not
find it, she has developed Lavender Visions, a program of groups for lesbians and women
who are questioning their sexuality, located in Philadelphia. For more information, please
visit the
Lavender Visions web site.
